While depictions of mainstream religion can be found
in virtually every form of media, rarely seen are the sacred worlds
of those marginalized by society: the outcast, the fallen, "the
other." Ironically, these are the ones for whom religion was
first formed, but who now worship as a means of refuge, finding
redemption, and forging community where they would otherwise have
none.
Golden States of Grace: Prayers of the
Disinherited by Rick Nahmias aims to give image and voice to
some of these groups, people who, because of the world, society, or
themselves, have been all but silenced.

Beloved
Community Interfaith Initiative
The Beloved Community Interfaith
Initiative aims to foster dialogue and action among faith-based
groups on issues of social justice facing our Central Coast
Community. Our goal is not only to engage faith groups in acts
of justice, but to invite them to reflect on ways that promote
greater levels of inclusion and justice within their own
communities.
Beloved Community draws upon Just
Communities' legacy as the National Conference of Christians and
Jews (NCCJ) and reaffirms our commitment to inspiring, challenging,
and supporting people of faith to work for social justice and
liberation for all people.
